ジャーナリスト 三島友之: 時刻は午前11時45分、八代市内へとやってきました。今、僕の後ろに見えているこちらの光景なんですけれども、水道管でしょうか。地震の影響で水道管のようなものが持ち上がり、コンクリートをすっかり押し上げてしまっています。
また道路の方を見てみますと、地面の方には割れ目や段差もところどころにできています。車もスピードを落としながらゆっくりと通行しているような状況でして、危険な状態です。
こちらご覧いただけますように、家屋が潰れてしまって、車がその下敷きになっています。こちら駐車場だったんでしょうか。何台も車が並んでいますが、そのほとんどが家の地下敷きになってしまっています。
こちらの建物は2階部分が残っているようですが、こちらは古かったせいか、もう跡形もないですね。車も大きく凹んでいて、すごい物理量があったことを伺わせます。
奥の建物も、よく見ると柱が真っ直ぐでなく傾いていて、また余震などがあった際に倒れてきたり、そうでなくてもいつバランスを崩すかわからないような状況です。またそのすぐ後ろには民家でしょうか、住宅のような建物が、倒壊した現場のすぐ真後ろにあります。こちらの方たちはまだ近くにいらっしゃるんでしょうか。非常に危険な現場です。

At approximately 4:27 p.m. on July 28, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture, with its epicenter in the Kumamoto region. The quake registered Japan’s maximum seismic intensity of 7 in Uki City and Hikawa Town, while Kumamoto City’s Minami Ward, Yatsushiro City, Uto City, Misato Town, and Mashiki Town recorded Upper 6 on the Japan Meteorological Agency’s seismic intensity scale. The earthquake caused extensive damage across the region. Tomoyuki Mishima, a journalist with the citizen media outlet 8bitnews, reported from Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
Near JR Yatsushiro Station, several houses had collapsed, crushing multiple parked cars beneath the debris. While parts of the second floors remained standing in some buildings, the first floors had largely collapsed, leaving vehicles severely damaged under the weight of the structures.
Several nearby buildings were left with visibly leaning pillars, raising concerns that they could collapse during aftershocks. Other homes also stood immediately adjacent to the destroyed structures, highlighting the ongoing risk of secondary disasters in the area.
