多様性について自分なりに表現してみた。
多様性は探すものではなく、常にそこに存在している。色々な背景、価値観をもつ人が共に生き続けることは愉快なことばかりではなく、おしゃれでもなく、地味な毎日の生活だ。
犬のコミュニケーション方法と、人間のコミュニケーション方法が違うからと言って、目くじらをたてる人はいない。サボテンの花とクロッカスの花の色が違うからと言って、賞賛する人も特にいないだろう。
相手を見下してはいけないが、はしゃぐ必要もない。これは生活の知恵だ。平気になればいいのだと思う。「ふーん」と言って違いを認識しつつも、流せるようになることが「寛容性」なのだと思う。
The word ”diversity” has become a trendy word in Japan nowadays. We are trying to raise awareness and be more tolerant to people and culture with diverse backgrounds, which will surely enrich our society. However, too much emphasis on ”differences” could lead to negative results such as divides in the community. This video message is a suggestion that we could make our community more inclusive by showing a bit of generosity toward our ”differences.”
